ABOUT ME.

Hello, I'm Zoe. I’m a writer, a tentative artist, a lapsed art-historian, a Buddhist and an aspiring psychotherapist. Originally from the south of England, I now live in north Yorkshire.

I also take dressing up at National Trust houses very seriously!

I also take dressing up at National Trust houses very seriously!

I began this blog a few years ago, after I had graduated with a PhD. Although I didn't want to go into academia, I didn’t want to stop looking at things: admiring them, analysing them and wondering about them. I didn’t want to stop writing about what I was seeing either and so I set up this space to keep track of things I was seeing; great big, important, shiny things and the everyday glittery bits and bobs which came my way.

Over time though, this blog has evolved into a repository for musings on all of the things I’m interested in; not just art and visual culture, but books, natural history, the process of making things and experimenting with creativity, photography, travelling and exploring, both at home and further afield. This is a place for notes about my various passions, a place to share art and hopefully, to connect with others.

By day, I have an job in heritage and so I write whenever I can - in all of the odd corners and spare moments of the day. In addition to this website, I also have a first novel and some short stories in progress. I like big scarves, chocolate eclairs, swimming and rainy weather. I have no pets, I’m afraid of heights, my favourite cheese is currently Gouda and I’m still trying to finish Knausgaard’s ‘A Death in the Family…’

Please do drop me a line to say hello. I hope you enjoy what you find here.
